Can Aqua Analytics Crack WA’s Water Woes?

Aqua Analytics has expanded its presence in Western Australia through the acquisition of Engineered Efficiency’s water loss operations, combining digital analytics with local repair teams to tackle leaks and water waste.

The September 2025 deal will allow the Melbourne-based company to provide utilities with both monitoring and on-the-ground response. “On average, we’re cutting leak response times by nearly 40 per cent compared to traditional models,” said James Wakem, managing director of Aqua Analytics. “That means less water lost and faster restoration of supply for communities.”

The challenges of Western Australia’s water sector make it a critical testing ground. Long distances, small regional towns and harsh conditions complicate supply. Aqua Analytics said embedding local crews would strengthen partnerships with major utilities including Water Corporation and Busselton Water, offering clearer accountability and measurable outcomes.

Analysts view the move as part of a wider trend towards integrated water management. A 2025 report by Global Water Intelligence highlighted rising demand for systems that combine advanced monitoring with direct repair capacity. “The future of smart water management is convergence,” said Claire Thompson, senior analyst at the consultancy. “Aqua Analytics is one of the first to bring that model into practice in Australia, and others will likely follow.”

The company faces operational hurdles, including integrating new teams and maintaining service standards as it scales. But growing pressure on infrastructure and heightened concerns over water scarcity are expected to drive demand.

Aqua Analytics, which has built its reputation on data-driven leak detection, is positioning itself to deliver end-to-end solutions across the sector. Its Western Australia acquisition marks a step toward setting new benchmarks in speed and reliability for utilities managing limited resources.
